The Instant DCA (iDCA) tests consist of a number of questionnaires designed to evaluate and develop students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to Digital Competence.
These tests have been developed within the Italian National Research Project - "Internet in the School and concerns with accessibility, equality and information management", PRIN-Miur, 2006) (for further information).
It is aimed at 15-16 yr. old students, it is free and it can be used following a simple request to do so; schools that wish to use it can access it via the Internet, using this web site.
At the end of each test, pupils can see the results and get feedback .

The following questionnaires are available:

  • Technological Dimension - level A : this questionnaire is related to the technological dimension. It has 19 simple questions.
  • Technological Dimension - levels A and B : in addition to the 19 questions in level A, this test includes 8 (for an overall total of 27) more complex items about logical operators, flowcharts and programming logic.
  • Cognitive Dimension - level A : this questionnaire is related to the cognitive dimension. It has 25 simple questions about working with text, tables, graphics and the critical evaluation of information.
  • Cognitive Dimension - levels A and B : in addition to the 25 questions in level A, this test includes 5 (for an overall total of 30) more complex items.
  • Ethical Dimension : this questionnaire is related to the ability to interact with other individuals constructively and with a sense of responsibility when using available technologies. It has 20 questions about the Internet behaviour i.e.,, privacy, and the digital divide.
  • Combined questionnaire - level A: this questionnaire which is limited to level A questions, has 30 questions ramdomly selected from each dimension (10 Technology-related - 10 Cognition-related - 10 Ethics-related).
  • Combined questionnaire - levels A and B : this questionnaire has 30 questions ramdomly selected from each dimension (8 Technology-related lev. A + 2 lev. B - 8 Cognition-related lev. A + 2 lev. B - 10 Ethics-related).
